Een third person-actiegame die zich afspeelt in de Tweede Wereldoorlog en een film noir-uiterlijk heeft. Klinkt goed, maar de meningen zijn verdeeld. CJP zet op een rijtje wat game-experts van deze nieuwe game vinden.

‘The Saboteur komt op het eerste gezicht vrij origineel over met de zwart/wit-setting die steeds verder overgaat in kleur naarmate je meer gebied herovert op de Duitse bezetter. Des te jammer is het dat men voor eigenlijk bijna alle andere elementen te veel heeft gekeken naar andere sandbox-games als GTA IV, Mafia en Assassin’s Creed, want dat niveau wordt nooit gehaald. Daarbij is de game te makkelijk en zijn missies op een paar uitzonderingen na niet memorabel genoeg om de aandacht tot het einde vast te houden, waardoor The Saboteur een geval van “net niet” is.’

‘Saboteur is a big game — I played 15 hours and finished about 75 percent of the main and side missions. You get rewarded for going out and destroying the hundreds and hundreds of Nazi guard towers, tanks and miscellany that dot the landscape. But it’s a big game best taken in small doses: an hour or two of clamber up the side of a building, snipe some guys, drive like hell, lather, rinse, repeat was plenty.’
